Dr. Henshaw grew up outside Boston before finding his long-time home in Lodi, California. He attended Pacific University near Portland, Oregon, where he discovered his passion for vision therapy and functional vision care. He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree in 1967.
Following graduation, Dr. Henshaw served five years in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, practicing as an optometrist at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. While at Walter Reed, he received advanced training in vision therapy under Dr. Bob Kraskin, OD, FCOVD, a nationally recognized leader in the field. Dr. Kraskin was known for providing vision therapy for visually related learning problems, including treatment for President Lyndon B. Johnson’s daughter, Lucy Johnson. Dr. Kraskin’s private practice was located near Walter Reed, allowing for close mentorship and hands-on learning. In 1973, Dr. Henshaw relocated to Lodi, CA, where he assumed the optometric practice of Dr. Calvin Looser, a pioneer in vision therapy who founded the practice in the early 1900s. Today, Dr. Henshaw continues this long tradition of excellence, providing vision therapy, visual processing care, and comprehensive optometric services to patients of all ages. |
